Questions

What to know before you upload

Does TickWarden diagnose Lyme disease?

No. A photo can help identify a likely tick species, but it cannot show whether the tick carried or transmitted an infection. Seek medical care for symptoms or bite-specific advice.

When does the photo get analyzed?

Only after Stripe confirms the $4.99 payment. Before checkout, we only verify that the file opens as a supported photo type. After payment, we send a resized copy without photo metadata to OpenAI for analysis, with Google Gemini available as a fallback.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no account or subscription. Stripe collects your payment and delivery email. We email a unique link that opens the report without a password, so anyone with the link can view it. Unpaid uploads are scheduled for deletion 24 hours after upload; paid photos and reports, 30 days after upload.

What if the species is uncertain?

The report gives a confidence level, alternate matches when useful, and a plain explanation of what the photo does and does not show.
